Lighted Wine Bottles

We recycle wine bottles and light them up! Most of our lighted wine bottles are done for major sports teams but we also decorate and light them up for the season or holiday as well.

Using a special drill bit and lots and lots of water, we drill holes in the bottom of the glass wine bottle through which we feed the small strings of lights. Then we place a rubber grommet in the hole to keep the lights in and make the hole more pleasing to the eye.

We make our own decals for the bottles or we buy them from craft supply stores.

We also do the same process with old mason jars, adding a little touch to the top using some decorative fabric that we cut out and add to the top of the mason jar.

It's a fun project working with wine bottles and mason jars to light them up and we get a lot of compliments on the designs at local craft shows.

Wine bottles...lighted and more
by: Anonymous

I decorate wine bottles with various things and add lights. I also decoupage them with or without lights, I slump them in a kiln and make spoon rests and snack trays. I sell them locally. The possibilities are endless!

Flattened wine bottles
by: Crafts For All Seasons

I have seen those wine bottles at craft fairs where they are flattened from a kiln. They are very popular... I've always seen people crowded around the booth. They turn out so nice. Thanks for sharing this idea!
